A massage or acupuncture every week would be wonderful, yes? For most of us, that is not realistic. But what if we could give ourselves self-acupuncture and self-massage when and where we need it? Let me introduce you to a series of classes that teach you how to do just that. Yin Yoga 4:30-6PM Sunday evenings at Wisdom Flow Studio. Yin Yoga is specifically designed to work on our connective tissue. Connective tissue – or fascia – is what holds us together. It is a net that suspends our organs – a high-tech adhesive that holds our cells in place while relaying messages between them. In a 90-minute yin yoga class you can re-set your inner-network of connective tissue to allow deep muscle release, and release of neurological holding patterns. It is very much like getting a massage and acupuncture treatment. Yin Yoga will leave you feeling calm, rejuvenated, more flexible and better grounded to begin a new week.
Sookie Kunst teaches Yin Yoga at Wisdom Flow Studio. She is a big fan of affordable, accessible DIY skills. She can help you fill your Yin and Yang toolkit with powerful tools for healing and uplifting.
Did you know massage therapy and yin yoga share similar effects as acupuncture due to the pressure and stretching they create in the connective tissues? All three of these modalities help reduce chronic inflammation in the body. Chronic inflammation leads to fibrosis which leads to fatigue, lymphedema and possibly helps cancers to spread through the fascia. Stretching…and for several minutes at a time without the hard work of contracting your muscles is one of the most effective ways of reducing inflammation!
Safe and strategically placed stress we create in our yin yoga practice can reduce both chronic inflammation and fibrosis. Acupuncture and yoga apply stress on the connective tissues, which are the containers and conduits for fluids. Inflammations occur in the connective tissues and the keys to a healthy immune system reside there as well. Wounds that become fibrotic increase chronic inflammation which increases fibrosis. This downward spiral sets the condition for ongoing scarification and possible cancer proliferation. But you can change all that with a great-feeling Yin Yoga class. Are you ready to join us? NEXT six-week Yin Yoga series is Feb 25 to April 6th. Join at anytime during the series. We will move through the meridians toning and balancing vital organs as we release holding patterns to balance spine and increase range of motion in the joints. All with deep slow breathing in a beautiful safe space.
