The basis of true wisdom lies in a recognition of our connection with all life.  Embedded within the true goodness and power within each of us is an understanding of our unity.  When we wake up to feel this unity, we naturally want to use our creative power to serve it.  This dance of Source  empowering individuals and individuals using that power to make offering back to Source and Source growing stronger because of the offerings and in turn giving more to the individual…this dance is depicted in the iconography of Shiva and Shakti.  This dance of individuality and indivisibility is the yoga way.

The Yoga Sutras, written by the Sage Patanjali some 5000 years ago, are designed to help us remember and strengthen this sacred union.  In elegant simplicity, the sutras outline the common human tendencies that evoke fear, forgetfulness, and the illusion of separation.  If we do not have practices that help us return to love and unity, we tend to live in the illusion of separation; held apart from our natural power and our natural joy.  In this blog and in the workshops that unfold with it, we will explore the sutras as a community to inspire a deep remembering of union, a cultivation of harmony, and celebration of our joyful growth.

On Saturday May 26, 2018, we meet for our first “Walk the Talk” Workshop.  We will gather at 4PM, begin with a chant and 10 minutes of gentle yoga before settling in to discuss the Yamas and the first 4 yoga sutras.  These monthly workshops will continue over the coming years until we work through all 192 Sutras.  We will keep record of these discussions through this blog.   To listen to our podcast on the first four sutras, click here.
