How aware are you of your breathing patterns? Most of us breathe at about 30% of full capacity. In other words, we carry stress and tightness that shuts down 70% of our breath function! What if you started tapping into that 70%? What if we shed a few layers of unconscious contraction and opened our “gills” to breathe fully? Sarah Gray and Ember Brehrendt teach Prana Slow Flow Mondays and Wednesdays 10:30am. Ember is a certified teacher of the Wim Hof breathing method and a certified yoga teacher. Sarah has been teaching pranayama and yoga since 2009. Join us for there deeply healing classes!
Yoga in the practice of aligning with the intelligence of the life force energy behind all life. Our respiratory system is a prime example of life force managing our ongoing function and well-being. The respiratory center in the brain stem is responsible for controlling our breathing rate. It sends a message to the respiratory muscles telling them when to breathe. The medulla, located nearest the spinal cord, directs the spinal cord to maintain breathing, and the pons, a part of the brain very near the medulla, provides further smoothing of the respiration pattern.
This control is automatic, involuntary and continuous. We do not have to consciously think about it. But we can unconsciously suppress it! With stress, weakness and tightness we can make it very difficult for our body’s intelligence to work for us. In this workshop, we develop a fresh clear awareness of aligning with our natural breath so it can fully breathe us. Join Sarah Gray (Mondays) and Ember Brehrendt (Wednesdays) and explore a variety of breath and movement practices designed to increase energy, enhance focus, and improve your mood.
