We all carry tension in our neck and shoulders. Chronic tension can lead to misalignment which affects the whole spine. The way we sit or stand, repetitive movements, and stress all contribute to tightness and pain. We tend to carry our shoulders and head forward which causes the the low back muscles to work overtime pulling us back towards balance. The tightness we feel is not just in our muscles. It is more in the dense deep layers of connective tissue that connect our inner parts. Our nervous system and circulatory system weave through our connective tissue to nourish and stimulate the far reaches and deep center of our bodies. When there is tension, twisting or stuck-ness in this fabric of connectivity we can experience limitation, pain, and low energy. The movements in this workshop focus on myofascial release. Using both active poses and passive poses with prop pressure, this workshop is an effective treatment for neck and shoulder tension.
